Recovering memories for our Mount Vernon neighbors

Many of the computers we see in Waynewood, Hollin Hills, and Stratford Landing hold twenty years of grandchildren, travel, and family history. When one stops working, we come to your home, take a careful look, and tell you plainly what we can likely recover.

This is the community we’re named for. Many of our longest-standing clients live just off the Parkway, and we treat their photos like our own.

“This assignment entailed setting up a new laptop, and transferring several programs and considerable data accumulated on my old laptop over the last 10 years. The job was undertaken by Calvert who showed himself to be knowledgeable, efficient and fluent in a range of technical activities.”

OVERVIEW

Data recovery in Mount Vernon usually involves irreplaceable family photos, letters and documents on a computer or external drive that stopped working. We assess the drive, tell you what can be recovered and work carefully to get your files back.

If the computer still runs, we copy everything off before attempting repairs. If the drive has failed, we use specialized tools to recover what we can and move it to a new drive or computer.

What to do when a drive starts failing

Clicking, grinding or a computer that freezes when opening files are warning signs. Stop using the computer and call us. Each time a failing drive runs, there is a chance of more damage, and early recovery gives the best results.

My teenager did not properly back up her laptop. So, when it totally crashed she lost access to her English final and all her junior year school files. In a panic we called Daryl on a Sat morning. He was able to retrieve all her files and make them available for use on either a PC or Mac. We have both and were not sure which computer would be used to finish up the school year. We had the all her files by 6pm that same Sat. You will not go wrong with Daryl. His prices are reasonable and we found him knowledgeable and honest. We will be using Daryl again for any future problems.

Daryl has been my go-to-guy for years. I have always found him to be very responsive and great at diagnosing problems. Recently, I had a hard drive failure on a Friday when I urgently needed my computer over the weekend. Daryl was able to get me up and running until he could install a new drive on Monday. A TRUE PROFESSIONAL! We are fortunate to have him in our neighborhood.

FAQ

Questions from Mount Vernon neighbors

Can you get photos off an old computer we haven’t used in years?

Usually, yes. Old drives can be fragile, so let us handle it rather than powering it on repeatedly. We can copy everything to a new computer, a USB drive, or the cloud so the whole family can see them.

Do I have to drop my computer off?

No. We can start at your home, and if the job needs more time on our bench we’ll pick the computer up and bring it back when it’s done.

Can you move my recovered files to a new computer?

Yes. Once your files are safe, we can set up a new or repaired machine and put everything back where you expect it, then set up backups so it doesn’t happen again.
