Recovering files for Fort Belvoir families

Moving trucks are rough on computers. We hear from Fort Belvoir families every PCS season whose laptop or external drive arrived damaged, holding years of photos from past duty stations. We come to you near post and work to bring those files back.

If a deployment is coming up, we can recover what you need and make sure your spouse knows how to reach important documents while you’re away.

“Daryl has always done exactly what needs to be done, for the price quoted, and in the time estimated. He doesn’t take advantage of my relative tech ignorance, and answers all of my questions – even the stupid ones. You can’t go wrong.”

Daryl has been my go-to-guy for years. I have always found him to be very responsive and great at diagnosing problems. Recently, I had a hard drive failure on a Friday when I urgently needed my computer over the weekend. Daryl was able to get me up and running until he could install a new drive on Monday. A TRUE PROFESSIONAL! We are fortunate to have him in our neighborhood.

My teenager did not properly back up her laptop. So, when it totally crashed she lost access to her English final and all her junior year school files. In a panic we called Daryl on a Sat morning. He was able to retrieve all her files and make them available for use on either a PC or Mac. We have both and were not sure which computer would be used to finish up the school year. We had the all her files by 6pm that same Sat. You will not go wrong with Daryl. His prices are reasonable and we found him knowledgeable and honest. We will be using Daryl again for any future problems.

Great experience working with Mount Vernon Computers. They were helpful and understanding regarding my data recovery issue and had more reasonable prices than other shops in the area.

07 / FAQ

Questions from Fort Belvoir neighbors

My computer was damaged during a PCS move. Can you still recover the files?

Often, yes. Don’t keep trying to power it on. Call us, and we’ll check it carefully and tell you what we find, which can also help if you’re filing a moving claim.

What should I do as soon as my computer stops working?

Turn it off and leave it off. Running a failing drive, or installing recovery software onto it, can overwrite the very files you want back. Call us and we’ll walk you through the safest next step.

What if my drive can’t be read at all?

Drives with physical damage sometimes need a specialized clean-room lab. If that’s the case, we’ll explain it honestly and help you decide whether it’s worth it.
