In a Rosslyn high-rise or a Lyon Park bungalow, a dead drive feels the same: your work, your photos, and years of records suddenly out of reach. We come to you anywhere in Arlington, look at the computer where it sits, and tell you honestly what can likely be saved.
Plenty of Arlington clients work from home on deadlines, so we move quickly and keep you updated by phone or text at every step.
“Daryl has been my go-to-guy for years. I have always found him to be very responsive and great at diagnosing problems. Recently, I had a hard drive failure on a Friday when I urgently needed my computer over the weekend. Daryl was able to get me up and running until he could install a new drive on Monday. A TRUE PROFESSIONAL! We are fortunate to have him in our neighborhood.”
When an Arlington laptop won’t boot or a folder disappears, the first hour matters. Mount Vernon Computers tells you what to do right away, then works to recover your documents, photos, and email from failed drives, deleted folders, and damaged devices.
Once your files are safe, we can put them on a repaired or new computer and set up automatic backups, so you never face the same scare twice.

What customers say
My teenager did not properly back up her laptop. So, when it totally crashed she lost access to her English final and all her junior year school files. In a panic we called Daryl on a Sat morning. He was able to retrieve all her files and make them available for use on either a PC or Mac. We have both and were not sure which computer would be used to finish up the school year. We had the all her files by 6pm that same Sat. You will not go wrong with Daryl. His prices are reasonable and we found him knowledgeable and honest. We will be using Daryl again for any future problems.Read full review

I found Mount Vernon Computer Repair in the mist of a crisis with my work laptop. I had accidentally caused water damage and was panicked that I’d not only destroyed my laptop but lost all my important files. Working with Daryl was great. He called me back promptly, examined and diagnosed my computer all in the same day. He runs a very honest business and explained that the damage was so extensive it would be more affordable to replace the laptop. Luckily my data could be saved which was a relief. I work for a non profit that assists our wounded service members and we work tirelessly to ensure 94 cents of every dollar goes to our mission. Though his price was very fair, my organization had decided that it was in our best interest to wait on purchasing any data recovery services. When I explained the situation to Daryl he researched our organization and decided to donate his time and services to save my files. I was speechless at his generosity. He single-handedly recovered all my files and allowed me to continue working without missing a beat. I had all my files back within less than 24 hours!! Daryl is very knowledgeable, professional, a pleasure to work with and a great guy. I really cannot thank him enough for his donation and generosity. I am so glad I called Mount Vernon Computer Repair! Daryl saved the day and I would absolutely recommend him to anyone needing help with computer set up and/or repairs. Thank you Daryl!!Read full review
Questions from Arlington neighbors
Can you recover files from my work-from-home laptop?
If it’s your personal computer, yes. If it belongs to your employer or agency, check with their IT department first, since they may have rules about who can handle it. We’re happy to explain what we’d do so you can ask them.
What should I do as soon as my computer stops working?
Turn it off and leave it off. Running a failing drive, or installing recovery software onto it, can overwrite the very files you want back. Call us and we’ll walk you through the safest next step.
Do I have to drop my computer off?
No. We can start at your home, and if the job needs more time on our bench we’ll pick the computer up and bring it back when it’s done.
